On this page you will find more details and descriptions of our workshops.
Glass mosaic on canvas art is a bit like putting pieces of a puzzle together. You decide on your design first. You can then either paint, draw or stamp your design on your canvas. Then the real creativity begins when you begin selecting glass pieces of various colors and then add the glass pieces to your design, creating color, depth and texture. Once you have finished your design, then you basically walk away. We do the rest by adding resin to your designs. The resin solidifies within 24 hours which binds the resin, glass and your canvas as one. Once cured and solidified, you pick up your designs and bring home for many years of enjoyment. You can also create these as gifts for family and friends. Groups of up to (8) are welcome. Great for office retreat workshops, bridal showers, or birthdays. Workshops usually last up to 2 hours. Prices range $25 - $80, based on canvas size selected. All supplies included but feel free to bring items to class to add to your glass mosaic. Old costume jewelry is a favorite that most students bring in to add to their project.
Our painting workshops are based on one design instruction for the entire class. All supplies are included. Create a work of art that will be enjoyed for years to come. Great for office retreat workshops, bridal showers, birthday, day out with a friend. Workshops usually last up to two hours. Prices vary (usually $30 - $80) for each class depending on canvas size selected by instructor.
All supplies included.
Note: Prices for 2 lb. projects are usually $60 each. Paint your own pottery (last option) ranges from $20-$60
Hand Buildung Workshop:
Working with clay in pliable slab form creating Freeform cups, bowls, ring holders, wall pockets, ceramic bird houses or decorative houses. Your imagination can be endless with handbuilding. Classes are two-part. First meeting we build our ceramic project. We let our projects air dry for two weeks until leather hard and then they are placed by us in a kiln for firing. Once firing is complete, we remove squeware from kilns and you then return to glaze your projects. We then place your ceramic pieces back into the kiln for a second firing. Once completed, your ceramics are ready for pickup.
Pottery Wheel Workshop:
Working with pliable clay we use the pottery wheel to transform the clay into vessels such as (bowls, cups, plates, vases, or pitchers. Projects (or greenware) are left to dry for two weeks until leather hard and then we fire them in the kiln into bisque ware. Once firing is complete, you return to glaze your vessel. They are then put back into the kiln for a second firing. Once firing is complete, you return to pick up your finish pottery project.
Raku Pottery Workshop:
In this workshop you will glaze finished bisqueware with raku glaze. We then add the glazed bisque ware to the kiln to fire. During the end of the kiln firing, we remove the pottery from the kiln and place into metal containers that contain combustible material such as wood shavings and shredded paper. We close the lid for reduction and when finished, we place into water to clean. Fired projects are taken home same day. Classes usually take 2.5 hours.
Sagger Fired Pottery Workshop:
This project is a whole lot of fun and very interesting. It’s probably my favorite because once firing is complete, we unwrap to see our masterpieces. We start with finished bisqueware. This is then placed on heavy duty foil and wrapped (baked potato style) with copper metal scrubbies, clean/dry cat litter and also Miracle Grow plant feed. You can also add natural plant matter, dried or wet. Acorns would be interesting! Once you have wrapped your vessel with all of these different substances, we wrap it up in the tin foil and let it fire in the kiln. You come back for a second session to unwrap, clean and then wax. There isn’t any glaze applied. The wax works as a sealant and protective coating that creates a beautiful shine to your pottery. Once complete, you take home. Classes usually are up to 2 hours each session. Price is usually $60 for each wrapped vessel.
Paint Pottery Workshop:
This workshop is fun and more relaxing than any of the above workshops. You initially decide on which finished pottery bisqueware piece you want to glaze and then select your glazes and design away. You can paint (cup, vase, plate, bowl) with shapes, colors, swirls, dots, zig-zags, your name, your loved ones name to be given as a gift or make one for yourself to use for fun or on your office desk as a clip holder. Once you have completed your glaze designs, you leave your project here to be clear glazed and then fired to bisqueware. Once complete, you pick up your piece to bring home and enjoy. Prices range $20-$60 depending on the size pottery you select.
In our fused glass jewelry workshop, we create designs using COE glass designed for fusing. We place our designs into individual microwave kilns one at a time. Once they cool, we open kiln lid to view. We then clean our glass designs, add jewelry bales and they are ready to add leather rope to wear. Each student can make up to (5) pieces each. Cost is usually $60 per person.
Freeform Fiber Nuno Felting Workshop...
is fun, colorful and takes a bit more energy than our other workshops. The reason for this is because we use a technique called "Nuno Felting".
Nuno felting is accomplished by adding bits of fiber to make designs such as flowers, vines, sunbursts, our vision of seascapes, etc. to a silk scarf. Once we have our design in place, we roll it up in bubble wrap and begin a rolling process that binds the fiber to the silk scarf. The rolling usually requires 50 rolls in one direction, open the project, flip the scarf and roll again another 50 times. This is all done with the application of soap and warm water. Once the rolling is complete, we open our designs and begin cleaning and throwing with cold water, which binds the fiber even tighter. This makes a beautiful design and a wearable piece of art as well.
This is an all-day workshop. A one-hour break is allowed for local eateries. Cost is usually $120 person.
Spinning Fiber into Yarn Workshop:
We learn how to spin fiber batts into yarn with the aid of a hand-held spindle.
Once you learn how to spin your fiber, the world of crochet (or knitting) opens up so that you can make hats, scarves, rugs, using your hand spun yarn. This is a two-hour workshop, and the cost is usually $45 per person.

Learn to Crochet Potholders or Coasters or the start of a Circle Rug Workshop:

We tear the fabric or sheets into long strips and attach them together, rolling the fabric as we go into fabric yarn balls. We then begin crocheting the strips together in a circle formation using a "Q" size crochet hook. This is a large crochet hook designed to work with bulky type yarn or fabric.
